We met with the head of Technology for TR-P in Hyderabad to get better insight into both current IT processes as well as the vision for new network technology, desktop support and telepresence solutions. The group then met with Finance for an overview of the Hyderabad Finance team (led by Srikar Yaddanpoudi) and Guarav Chadha gave us a great presentation of the GSC's new initiatives in cash collections. Lakshmi and her team presented us with some wonderful gifts before we left.

Wednesday, June 17th

We woke up early to visit the Birla Mandir temple. The 42 foot tall Hindu temple is made of exquisitely carved white marble. We walked to the top of the temple which offered a great view of Hyderabad. We met 30 or 40 of our Hyderabad colleagues for a group lunch followed by presentations on our new organizational structure and recruiting in the afternoon.

An army of nurses and doctors welcomed us in the Hyderabad airport to take our temperature due to H1N1 fears.

We arrived at the Ista hotel. The hotel is set along some of the many construction sites across the city, very close to the enormous ICIC bank that is under construction. The grounds are very nice and rooms are recently renovated. Cheers to Jason LeHeup & Gavin Finders for picking a nice hotel that was also affordable. We are also very happy that they were each able to stay in the 1,500 square feet+ President Suites.

Lakshmi Reddy and team members (Imran and VJ) greeted us when we arrived in Hyderabad.

Lee Hollingsworth and David Clapp went on a rickshaw tour of downtown Hyderabad with Gavin Finders as guide. Leveraging Gavin's extensive knowledge of the area and dubious connections, they visited the home of Gavin's driver. The gentleman took Lee and David to his home and they got to see some of the challenging conditions that Hyderabad's poor face.

Warren and David received ceremonial titles from the mayor of Hyderabad. Warren was named "King of Hyderabad" and David "Sultan of Sales & Use.
In the afternoon, Finance, HR and Operations held meetings with their counterparts. The meetings went well and functioned to set the stage for the rest of the week's "deep dives". In addition, the opportunity to have face to face interaction was useful to surface some of the natural issues that we face as we scale our India operations.

We visited the Deloitte campus, hosted by lead managing partner Bob Chapman. Bob showed us the 6,000 person operation including the innovative "communication" gym learning center, advanced Cisco telepresence system, and network operations center. He, his HR lead and another partner provided an informative presentation on Deloitte's India training, recruiting, and retention strategies. We were fortunate to share in Deloitte's 8 years of learning and Bob's extensive knowledge from a 30 year career at Deloitte. After our meeting, Bob treated us to a great dinner at the F Cafe.

Facilities, HR and Tax & Accounting senior leadership all gave presentations.
